Messi ruled out for two months
Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has been ruled out of action for eight weeks after sustaining a muscle tear in his left hamstring.
Messi, 26, suffered his third leg injury of the season in the first half of Sunday's 4-1 win at Real Betis - during a sprint while challenging for the ball with an opposition defender in the 18th minute.
The four-time Ballon d'Or winner immediately told the Barca dugout that he was hurt, and Andres Iniesta replaced him in the 21st minute.
Barcelona said on Sunday that the Argentina international had a "muscle injury in his left thigh" and that he would undergo medical tests on Monday, which have since revealed the full extent of the problem.
