Bale ready to hit top form for Madrid

Gareth Bale says Real Madrid fans are now starting to see what he can do as the fitness issues which interrupted his start in Spain are now behind him.

Bale joined Madrid from Tottenham in late August in an £86 million deal billed as football's biggest ever, but a number of injury problems meant he did not complete a full 90 minutes until October 30.

That game - a 7-3 win against Sevilla at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu - saw Bale score twice and register two assists, and he has continued that form with a goal in the 2-2 Champions League draw at Juventus and three assists across La Liga clashes with Rayo Vallecano [a 3-2 win] and Real Sociedad [a 5-1 victory].

Bale told Real Madrid TV that he was much happier now, and there was more entertainment to come.

"It was just a matter of time," he said. "I needed to get my fitness back, get games, get training. Now everyone has seen what I can do. There is still a lot more to come, I know. I just need to keep working now and hopefully there are a lot more goals and assists to come."

Bale agreed that the 'mini pre-season' he underwent during October's international break had helped get him ready after niggles interrupted his first two months in Spain.

"I have just finished my pre-season, and there is a lot more to come," he said. "Now hopefully I can score a lot more goals and help the team to achieve big things."

Madrid's in-form, three-pronged strike force have recently been dubbed the 'BBC' - Bale, [Karim] Benzema and Cristiano [Ronaldo] - in the local media. Bale, who is set to feature for his country in a friendly against Finland on November 16 in Cardiff, said he was particularly enjoying playing alongside the "unbelievable" Ronaldo.

"When you play with the greatest players it is easy," Bale said. "He is unbelievable in his own right. He scores hat-tricks every week. He is unbelievable. To be in the same team as him, scoring goals and giving assists, is great for me."
