Dzeko on Arsenal radar

Arsene Wenger's search for a striker is showing no signs of easing up as the Premier League leaders consider a January bid for Manchester City's Edin Dzeko.

Wenger's concerns around the fitness of the overworked Olivier Giroud has been well-documented, and the Gunners have recently been linked with Real Madrid's Karim Benzema, Liverpool's Luis Suarez, Juventus frontman Fernando Llorente and Manchester United's Javier Hernandez as they look to strengthen their attacking options.

And according to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal have now been alerted to the possibility in signing Dzeko, who is frustrated by a lack of opportunity at the Etihad this season and needs playing time ahead of Bosnia & Herzegovina's World Cup debut next summer.

Current concerns that Arsenal do not have the squad depth to continue their title challenge will be muted if they can pull of a significant capture in January.

The Gunners still favour a swoop for Benzema but are closely watching developments with Dzeko. But they will face stiff competition for his signature when the transfer window reopens, as Inter Milan are also keen on bolstering their squad with the Bosnian target man.
