England manager Roy Hodgson insists he will not recall John Terry to the squad following his retirement from international football.

Terry brought an end to his international career in September 2012 after featuring for Hodgson during England's Euro 2012 campaign, but after the national side suffered back-to-back defeats at Wembley for the first time since 1977 in the 1-0 loss to Germany on Tuesday night, Hodgson has dismissed suggestions whether he would bring Terry back to the national set-up.

"We've moved on from that. John retired," Hodgson said after England slipped up defensively against Germany and in the defeat to Chile on Friday.

"We've qualified with our 10 matches and 10 matches with Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka and we've seen a very good performance from Chris Smalling.

"I think it's important that we continue along those lines, continue looking forward and that we don't start panicking and looking backwards every time we have a reverse."
