Real Madrid are plotting a summer raid for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, with the La Liga side set to bid £48 million for the Argentine according to reports in the Sun.

Aguero has been in fine form for City this season and has continued to attract the attention of football's elite.

The 25-year-old has scored 16 goals in all competitions for Manuel Pellegrini's side so far this campaign, while Madrid president Florentino Perez met City owner Sheikh Mansour in Abu Dhabi last week.

The paper quotes a source from Madrid saying: "It is certain that the club's interest in Aguero was discussed. No offer was made, it was more a conversation in which a possible deal was also brought up."

Aguero joined City from Madrid's rivals Atletico in the summer of 2011, in a deal worth £38 million.
