Sturridge out for six to eight weeks
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has been ruled out for six to eight weeks with ankle ligament damage.
The 24-year-old suffered the injury during training on Friday, before manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed the extent of the damage shortly before his side's Premier League encounter with Hull on Sunday.
The news comes as a bitter blow to the club as Sturridge has been instrumental in aiding their league plight this campaign. However, now he will be out until January and therefore miss a hectic Christmas schedule.
"Daniel Sturridge is out for six to eight weeks which is obviously a big blow," Rodgers told Sky Sports. "It is one where it is about the terrific players to come in. Raheem Sterling is terrific player and Victor Moses is a very talented player, and I know they are both hungry to do well."
Sturridge was rested for the Merseyside derby in November because of concerns from Rodgers about his fitness, after he played 90 minutes in England's 1-0 friendly defeat against Germany the Tuesday before. He later came off the bench to score an 89th minute equaliser against Everton.
He has been in fine form for the Reds this season and has scored 12 goals in all competitions, having linked up tremendously well with Luis Suarez.
