Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew and goalkeeper Tim Krul have been named the Premier League Manager and Player of the Month respectively for November.

The club won all four of their league fixtures last month, overcoming Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City to give the best possible response to their derby defeat at Sunderland in late October.

That form saw Newcastle climb into the top half of the table, earning Pardew the second Manager of the Month award of his career and his first while on Tyneside. A rare occurrence for the club, he is the first Newcastle boss to collect the accolade since the late Sir Bobby Robson won it in 2003.

Krul has also seen his stellar form for Newcastle rewarded with the Player of the Month award. Keeping an impressive clean sheet against Chelsea, it was his performance away to Tottenham eight days later that saw him earn rave reviews from his peers.

The 25-year-old's 14 saves against Spurs ensured a first-half strike from Loic Remy secured an unexpected 1-0 win at White Hart Lane.

"It's a great honour and an individual prize, but in my mind it's one for the whole team because we did it together," Krul told the club's official website.

"Spurs was a major highlight - the best moment of my career - and it was so good to get that clean sheet in the end.

"It was a busy afternoon but I had a lot of help, with the guys in front of me absolutely brilliant. Mapou [Yanga-Mbiwa] cleared one off the line, Willo [Mike Williamson] was brilliant and the full-backs as well. That made it complete."

Following their 3-0 defeat at Swansea on December 4, Pardew and Krul's next big test comes this weekend when they travel to face Manchester United at Old Trafford.
