Hiddink, Laudrup ruled out of Spurs job

Guus Hiddink and Michael Laudrup are the first two managers to be ruled out of replacing Andre Villas-Boas as Tottenham Hotspur's head coach.

Hiddink, who left Anzhi Makhachkala in July, had been named as a contender but, as he has agreed to take charge of Netherlands after the World Cup, his agent has said he is not in the running.

Cees van Nieuwenhuizen told Press Association Sport: "I would be surprised if [Hiddink] went to Spurs. I could hardly imagine that happening.

"He has just signed a contract with Holland and he has also turned down offers from other countries recently to coach them at the World Cup so I wouldn't take any talk of Guus going to Tottenham seriously."

Swansea boss Michael Laudrup had also been linked with the position but his agent, Bayram Tutumlu, told the Daily Mail: "Michael Laudrup is very happy at Swansea. It is a good club and he wants to stay at Swansea."

Villas-Boas left Spurs on Monday following Sunday's 5-0 home defeat to Liverpool, and the club have confirmed that three members of the current coaching team will take temporary charge.

In a short statement, Tottenham said: "The club can announce that Tim Sherwood, Chris Ramsey and Les Ferdinand will take charge of the first team whilst the club progresses discussions. Steffen Freund and Tony Parks continue as part of the coaching staff.

"Jose Mario Rocha, Luis Martins and Daniel Sousa leave the coaching staff and we wish them well for the future."

Several potential candidates for the permanent position have been mentioned, including Russia boss Fabio Capello, Southampton's Mauricio Pochettino and Glenn Hoddle, who has not managed a club since leaving Wolves in 2006.
