Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko believes Sergio Aguero's absence through injury is "very bad" for the club, but is confident they have the depth to cover for the Argentina international.

Aguero, currently second in the Premier League's scoring charts, could miss up to eight weeks with a calf injury after being forced off during City's 6-3 victory over Arsenal. However, the Daily Telegraph reported on Thursday that he may be in line for a return next month, allaying fears that he would miss City's Champions League last-16 tie with Barcelona.

But Dzeko, who scored a double against Leicester City in their Capital One Cup win, is confident the club can continue their high-scoring performances, starting with Saturday's trip to Fulham.

"Sergio has had an amazing season, scoring a lot of goals, and he is an important player for us," Dzeko told the Mirror.

"That's life, and now we have to try to play games without him, and try to win. This is very bad for the team but there are a lot of players who want to play.

"I am happy to score two - that's my job. I hope it means I am back among the goals. When I'm playing, I'm trying always to score goals.

"I am a striker that has scored goals all my life, and I love to do it. When I get a chance I try to do my best. We have a superb squad and recently have scored a lot of goals. Wherever I get goals, I am happy. Fulham will be tough - but we have to try to win away again."
