Hull and Anelka enjoy record-setting day

Hull recorded their biggest win ever in the Premier League with a 6-0 demolition of Fulham at the KC Stadium, while Nicolas Anelka created a personal milestone in West Brom's 3-3 draw at West Ham.

Hull had never scored more than three goals in a match in their two and a half seasons in the Premier League and amazingly, given what was to follow, the match against Fulham was goalless at half-time.

However, parity lasted only four minutes of the second half as Ahmed Elmohamady fired home from a half-cleared corner. Robert Koren converted a low cross on the hour mark, before the Fulham implosion began in earnest.

George Boyd struck on 63 minutes before Tom Huddlestone scored his first goal in two years - and immediately made good on his promise to have his hair cut when he next scored by taking scissors to his mop on the sidelines. Matt Fryatt reacted quickest to a rebound to make it 5-0, and Koren scored his second of the game to round out the humiliation.

At Upton Park, Anelka became the ninth man to score for six different Premier League clubs, but his double was not enough to give West Brom a much-needed win over fellow strugglers West Ham, as the sides had to settle for a 3-3 draw.

Anelka scored twice in quick succession in the first half to put the visitors 2-1 ahead, but the Hammers hit back midway through the second half to take a lead that was almost immediately wiped out by Saido Berahino's equaliser.

A chaotic start to the match set the tone for much of the defending that was to follow. West Brom immediately threatened when the hosts failed to deal with a James Morrison cross that Chris Brunt volleyed into the side-netting. Within a minute, Joe Cole had put West Ham ahead, exchanging passes with Kevin Nolan before blasting the ball beyond Ben Foster.

Both sides continued to create chances, with Guy Demel coming closest to adding to West Ham's lead when his turn and shot hit the outside of the post. However, it was West Brom who were next to score, with Nicolas Anelka being set through on goal by Brunt's inch-perfect pass and tucking home for his first goal for the Baggies on his first start in two months.

Barely ten minutes later, he had his second thanks to some shambolic defending of a corner by West Ham that left Anelka with a simple poacher's tap-in.

West Ham had the better of things after half-time, but the closest they came to equalising was Madibo Maiga's curling effort from the edge of the area that Foster sprung acrobatically to his right to tip away. However, two minutes later the same player tried again from a similar area, and his low shot bounced over Foster's misjudged dive and into the net.

The momentum had swung heavily in West Ham's favour, and they took the lead for the second time in the game within two minutes of Maiga's equaliser. Maiga rose highest for a cross and nodded it down for Kevin Nolan to direct it over Foster and in off the bar from five yards.

Having worked so hard to take the lead, Sam Allardyce will have been infuriated that it lasted just two minutes. Berahino worked himself into space on the left of the area and his low shot was perfectly judged to evade Jussi Jaaskelainen's grasp and hit the inside of the post en route to the net.

A 95th minute equaliser earned Sunderland a dramatic point at Cardiff City. The home side, fresh from the sacking of Malky Mackay, let a two-nil lead slip as Gus Poyet's men struck in the final seconds of the match for a share of the spoils.

Jordon Mutch put City ahead after six minutes after being booked for diving, before Fraizer Campbell doubled their lead before the hour mark.

Steven Fletcher, who replaced the ill Fabio Borini at half time, pulled one back with seven minutes to go before Jack Colback blasted home deep into injury time to send the travelling contingent of Sunderland supporters into rapture.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa failed to hold on to their early advantage through Gabby Agbonlahor's seventh-minute strike against Swansea, with Roland Lamah's equaliser on 36 minutes enough to secure a 1-1 draw at Villa Park.
