Ray Wilkins has been appointed Fulham's new assistant head coach.

The former Chelsea assistant's arrival follows last week's appointment of Alan Curbishley as first-team technical director at the club.

Since Rene Meulensteen replaced the sacked Martin Jol on December 1, Fulham have won two league games and lost six, including Saturday's 6-0 thrashing at Hull which leaves them 18th in the table.

Meulensteen said: "I am delighted that the Chairman and the CEO have, again, backed my desire for further experience and support within the backroom staff. Retaining our status of being a Premier League club next season is vitally important to our long term plans, and I know that Ray's own experience and his knowledge of the game will be a vital component in our success."
