Player sacked after mud-bath allegation
Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Sofia have sacked one of their players after he was alleged to have gone for a mud bath instead of playing in an important match.
Martin Dimitrov, who played 39 games for Lokomotiv between 2012 and 2013, was told his services were no longer required after a bizarre accusation from coach Stefan Genov after the club's recent game with Ludogorets.
A bemused Dimitrov, 26, told BG Sport: "I knew from the media that I've been released. Later, [Lokomotiv director] Christian Dobrev called me and told me Genov is not going to count on me for the future.
"Genov told Dobrev he wanted me to play in the match with Ludogorets but, according to him, I refused in order to go mud-bathing.
"This is not something any professional footballer would ever say. I'm hurt because this is my childhood club."
