Beattie pays for fans after Accrington postponement

Accrington manager James Beattie acted in the spirit of the FA Cup after he rewarded four travelling fans with tickets to watch Southampton's tie with Burnley, following the postponement of Stanley's third round clash against Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

The four fans had travelled down to the south coast on Friday, before the game was called off due to stormy weather and a waterlogged pitch.

However, after the fans got in touch with Beattie via social networking site Twitter, the former striker managed to arrange tickets for them to watch the game at St Mary's.

This meant the 275-mile trip was not a wasted effort and, in light of Paul Lambert's recent comments surrounding the FA Cup, there is still a little bit of magic left.
