Rochdale shock Leeds, Wigan held by MK Dons

The FA Cup third round did not fail in producing a number of pulsating ties as Rochdale shocked Championship side Leeds, holders Wigan were held at home by MK Dons while non-league sides Kidderminster and Macclesfield both ensured they would be in the hat for the fourth round after playing out draws.

Scott Hogan and Ian Henderson scored the goals as Rochdale earned a 2-0 win over Leeds at Spotland, but Wigan were held to a 3-3 draw after a cracker of a tie at the DW Stadium.

Wigan led 2-0 but Ben Reeves scored twice in quick succession before the break to level up. Callum McManaman put Wigan back in front before Patrick Bamford scored late on for the visitors, who also saw Shaun Williams miss a penalty.

Huddersfield narrowly avoided an upset with two late goals against non-league Grimsby at Blundell Park, coming through 3-2 winners but Macclesfield and Kidderminister both earned places in the fourth round draw following stalemates with Sheffield Wednesday and Peterborough respectively.

Yeovil were comfortable 4-0 winners over Leyton Orient at Huish Park, while Coventry came from behind to record a 2-1 win at Barnsley thanks to Leon Clarke's late strike.

Jermaine Beckford scored his 17th goal in 21 FA Cup appearances as Bolton edged Blackpool with a 2-1 victory, Brighton saw off Reading by a single goal and Bristol City fought back to draw 1-1 with Watford.

Stevenage held on for a spirited 3-2 victory at Championship side Doncaster, while Preston earned a 1-1 draw with Ipswich at Portman Road. Millwall suffered a disappointing afternoon as they were downed 4-1 by Southend, and also saw Jermaine Easter sent off in the first half of a match which was delayed by floodlight failure.

Elsewhere, Charlton's tie with Oxford, Bournemouth's match against Burton and Accrington's trip to Portsmouth all fell afoul of stormy weather.
