David Moyes will reportedly be handed a £100 million war chest to save Manchester United's season in the January transfer window.

According to the Daily Mirror, United chief executive Ed Woodward will bankroll the investment although has told Moyes not to panic buy with quick-fixes.

United were left reeling after being dumped out of the FA Cup in the third round at home to Swansea on Sunday. They are currently five points off the Champions League places and 11 points off leaders Arsenal in seventh, although they face Sunderland in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final tonight.

It is believed United have ruled out a move for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera, who they failed to sign on the final day of the summer transfer window.

An ambitious bid to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke, who has been watched several times by Moyes and his scouts, is also expected to fail.

Moyes will reignite his interest from the summer in Everton left-back Leighton Baines but the United manager's former club have not changed their position.
