ESPN FC: City "full of goals"

Alvaro Negredo has revealed he never considered signing for David Moyes when the now Manchester United manager tried to buy him for Everton.

Moyes opened talks with Sevilla last January as he attempted to bring in the Spain international striker.

But Negredo rebuffed Moyes' advances and went on to join Manchester City in July for £20 million.

And he said: "I just wanted to finish the season with Sevilla. I wanted to wait until it got to the summer before I started looking at other options. I never really considered the possibility of moving in January."

The 28-year-old scored a hat-trick in City's 6-0 League Cup win over West Ham on Wednesday to take his tally at the Etihad Stadium to 15 goals in as many games.

Negredo scored 31 times in his final year for Sevilla but believes this might prove the best season of his career.

He added: "It could be. We just have to wait but I'm feeling comfortable, I score a lot of goals and hopefully I can make some assists. I am in a great moment but I hope to get better than this."

Negredo now has 18 goals for City this season, only one behind their injured top scorer, Sergio Aguero, and he is relishing their private battle

He added: "I need to get more and catch him up because I know when he comes back he will score more goals."

In Aguero's absence, Negredo has been paired in attack with Edin Dzeko, who scored twice against West Ham and he believes the multilingual Bosnian has made it easier for him to succeed.

He said: "It's really good but with great players it is easy to play. We have a special connection. He speaks a little bit of Spanish, we are able to talk.

"We are always looking for each other and the partnership is working very well. He gave me a great assist. We always look after each other and that's the most important thing."
