Galatasaray prepare lucrative Vidic deal

Galatasaray are lining up a lucrative deal to sign Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic this summer, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The Serbian is out of contract at the end of the season and is therefore free to discuss a Bosman transfer with foreign clubs such, who look to add the defender to their growing list of stars.

Former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini, now in charge of the Turkish side, has hired deal-fixer Muzzi Oscan - who has also been involved in Galatasaray's attempts to sign Chelsea captain John Terry - to broker the deal with Vidic.

The Daily Mail reports a meeting took place at the Manchester Piccadilly Hilton Hotel last week between Vidic, who currently earns £90,000 a week at Old Trafford, about an offer thought to be in the region of £3 million, including up to £415,000 worth of bonuses, per season after tax.

Vidic is thought to want a new challenge away from Manchester United - where he has won five Premier League titles, three League Cup trophies, as well as the Champions League and World Club Cup in 2008.

United have already blocked Galatasaray's efforts to sign the defender this month but that has not deterred Mancini from pursuing a deal for the end of the season.

In recent years the Turkish champions have signed Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba to lucrative deals, and have also been linked with a big-money move for Arsenal left-back Bacary Sagna.
