Arsene Wenger had suggested he has come to a decision over his long-term future, but he is not ready to reveal whether he will sign another contract to continue as Arsenal boss.

Reports earlier this week claimed Wenger had agreed to extend his historic reign at Arsenal beyond the end of his current contract, which is due to expire at the end of this season.

While it seems as if rumours that an announcement over Wenger's contract extension was imminent were premature, the Arsenal manager has given his broadest hint yet that he will continue for a few more years.

When asked whether his future will be an issue as he pursues new players in the next couple of weeks, Wenger's answer was emphatic.

"No," he stated in unequivocal fashion. "I will talk to them [possible signings], don't worry.

"There is always a point where you have to decide [on a new contract], of course. There is a point where you have to decide and there is a point where you have to make your decision public. You can take of that sentence what you want."

There was also positive news over the contract talks involving Arsenal defenders Per Merteascker and Bacary Sagna, with Wenger suggesting new deals for both may be within touching distance.

"We are making good progress and hopefully we can announce something soon," confirmed Wenger.
