Borussia Dortmund will sign former Sunderland attacker Ji Dong-won on a free transfer in the summer.

On Thursday, Augsburg announced that they had signed Ji - who played for them on loan in the first half of last year and helped them avoid relegation - until the end of the season.

He will sign a four-year contract when he moves to Dortmund in the summer, and BVB sporting director Michael Zorc said: "We are delighted that we can sign this talented player on a free for next season."

Jurgen Klopp is looking to reinforce his attacking options, which will be hit by Robert Lewandowski's summer switch to Bayern Munich. Football magazine kicker has reported that more deals are in the pipeline.

After Ji returned to Wearside in the summer, he found himself back on the bench this season. After agreeing the Augsburg move, he told the German club's official website: "I wanted to make the switch in the winter to win more minutes and put myself in the window for the World Cup in Brazil.

"I had a super time at Augsburg last season and it was clear to me that I wanted to join Augsburg and Augsburg only for the rest of the season."
