Inter confirm Benitez appointment

Rafael Benitez has been officially confirmed as the new head coach of Inter Milan after signing a two-year deal with the reigning Italian and European champions.

Inter president Massimo Moratti announced on Tuesday that a deal had been reached to bring Benitez to San Siro but the finer points of the agreement have now been ratified.

Benitez replaces Jose Mourinho at Inter after he opted to join Real Madrid having won a historic Treble with the Nerazzurri last season.

The Spaniard was available after leaving Liverpool by mutual consent. Benitez came under pressure for only delivering a seventh-place finish in the Premier League.
