Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has once again named Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye as a player who fits the bill as he seeks to reinforce his midfield.

Blanc is a known admirer of Cabaye, 28, after making him one of the cornerstones of his France side during his two-year spell in charge of the national team.

Blanc has consistently talked of his admiration for Cabaye, who he sees as the ideal addition to his squad. PSG currently lead Ligue 1 and remain on course for a domestic treble, and have also reached the knockout stages of the Champions League.

"We need a player with the same mentality as the others who are on the pitch or even on the bench," Blanc told Canal+ following his team's 5-0 thrashing of Nantes on Sunday. "He has to love playing. He needs to be good technically and strong, and whether he comes in or doesn't, there will be competition for places in each position.

"As for Cabaye, I ask myself the question. I know the man well. He has that kind of character. But there are others.

"We're very happy with his team, but with all the competitions we're in, there are going to be some breakages."

Cabaye, who is under contract at St James' Park until 2016, has played down speculation linking him to PSG. Newcastle have made no moves to try and sell Cabaye - who they bought from Lille for just £4 million in 2011.

However, Canal+ reported early on Monday that the two clubs have agreed on a fee of £21 million for Cabaye.
