Newcastle agree deal for Montpellier's Cabella
Montpellier president Louis Nicollin has told Midi Libre he has reached an agreement with Newcastle United for sought-after midfielder Remy Cabella.
Cabella, 23, is one of French football's hottest properties, and he has been linked to a number of clubs - with Manchester United the most prominent.
Though the Red Devils' interest has seemingly cooled, Newcastle remain keen to see the €15 million-rated Cabella add further Gallic flair and flavour to their squad.
However, Magpies fans will not see the French Under-21 international in a black-and-white shirt before next season.
"We have an agreement with the Newcastle board that I will not reveal. But it doesn't include a departure for Remy before the month of June, that's a certainty," Nicollin stated.
Nicollin Sr's comments came after his son, Laurent, who runs the club on a daily basis at his father's behest, had told RMC no deal had yet been struck with the English Premier League club.
"There's no agreement concerning Remy Cabella. He'll be a Montpellier player until the end of the season. If the Newcastle board want to talk in June, there's no problem."
A Montpellier youth academy product, Cabella, who is under contract until 2016, recently stated he would remain at the club until the end of the season.
