Manchester United have not made any concrete move for Bayern Munich's Dante, club sources have told ESPN, despite the Brazil defender stating that the Premier League champions are interested in signing him.

In a comment that was somewhat out of the blue, Dante told Fox Sports Brasil: "I'm thankful for the Manchester United interest, it will all be sorted out by the end of the month. We have to wait until January 31 because there is a lot going on."

It is felt, however, that Dante could be using the statement as leverage in attempting to secure a new contract with Bayern.

While it is true that the defender is someone that United have kept an eye on, that is somewhat complicated by the fact the Old Trafford club are known to have watched around 40 senior players in the last few months, as manager David Moyes seeks to strengthen his team.

While United sources did not rule out any move in future, it is thought the extent of current interest has been exaggerated, and that the player's first wish by far is to stay with Champions League holders Bayern.

Moyes is expected to travel to central Europe on more scouting trips this weekend, with United having a free schedule after their FA Cup third-round elimination to Swansea City.
