Everton have been fined £45,000 and warned about their future conduct after making an unauthorised approach for Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles in 2010.

The FA ruled that the Premier League club had breached its Football Agent Regulations. Lascelles, 20, was under a scholarship agreement at Championship side Forest when Everton made their approach in late 2010, the FA said.

Andy Niedwiecki, the agent who was representing the defender at the time, admitted his part in the rule breach and has been fined £10,000.

Lascelles, who subsequently signed his first professional contract at Forest in March 2011 and made his debut in January 2012, also admitted a part in the matter and has been "severely warned" as to his future conduct, the FA said.

The governing body added in a statement: "The time-frame for any appeal has passed."

A former England youth international, Lascelles has made 15 appearances on all competitions this season for Forest, where he is under contract until 2016.
