Osvaldo suspended after training ground fight
Dani Osvaldo appears to have kicked his last ball for Southampton after a bloody training ground bust-up with team-mate Jose Fonte at the club's training base on Thursday.
Southampton moved quickly to hand Osvaldo a public dressing down and a two-week ban following the incident, that left his team-mates shocked by the level of violence they had witnessed and Fonte with facial injuries.
"Southampton Football Club has today suspended striker Dani Osvaldo for two weeks, following an incident at the Club's Staplewood training ground," read the club statement.
"The club has taken swift and proper action for what it considers a breach of the conduct expected of its players."
ESPN sources understand the venom displayed by Osvaldo means he may not be welcomed back into the Saints fold once his suspension is served, with the club now likely to try and arrange a loan move or sale for the controversial striker before the January 31 transfer deadline.
Osvaldo has just served a three-match suspension for his role in the touchline bust-up at Newcastle last month, which also earned him a £40,000 fine from the FA.
This is not the first time Osvaldo has hit the headlines for the wrong reasons, with the Saints club-record signing reported to have had a similar training ground bust up with team-mate Erik Lamela during their days together at Roma back in 2011.
Osvaldo has scored three goals in 13 Premier League appearances since his £15 million move to Southampton last summer, but club sources suggest a move back to Italy is likely before the end of the month on either a temporary or permanent deal.
