Ferguson accepts new UEFA role
Sir Alex Ferguson has accepted a role as coaching ambassador to European football's governing body.
Speaking after an executive committee meeting in Switzerland on Friday, UEFA president Michel Platini said Ferguson would take on the post.
Ferguson retired as Manchester United manager at the end of last season, bowing out with his 13th United league title.
And Platini explained: "Sir Alex will be chairman of the forum of elite coaches that meet every year. He will also be a member of the technical study group of the Champions League and the European Championship."
Ferguson said it was "an honour and a privilege to accept this role as ambassador for UEFA."
