Manchester United target Edinson Cavani wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain despite only joining the French champions in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Cavani was a £55 million signing from Napoli last July but the newspaper claims the striker is unhappy with manager Laurent Blanc's tactics.

Blanc has largely used Cavani as a wide player in order to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the centre of PSG's attacking line-up.

However, Cavani is reportedly unhappy with being shelved out wide and is now keen to end his time at the club - despite Blanc using his Friday press conference to play down Cavani's link with United.

"You cannot prevent that some club is interested in PSG players, as we are interested in many players," Blanc said. "But today, it is almost impossible to take a major PSG player during the winter market."

United have recently agreed a club record fee of £37m for Chelsea winger Juan Mata, while suggestions have emerged that Wayne Rooney is about to commit his future at Old Trafford, thus easing manager David Moyes' recent transfer woe.
