Manchester United are intent to follow up their £37.1 million capture of Juan Mata with moves for Atletico Madrid pair Filipe Luis and Diego Costa, according to the Daily Mail.

United scouts attended Atletico's 4-2 win over Rayo Vallecano on Sunday to watch Costa and Luis, who have been long-term targets. The win took Atletico level on points with Barcelona at the top of La Liga.

Striker Costa is second only to Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo in the La Liga scoring charts this season, and appeared to have netted his 20th of the campaign in the 75th minute against Rayo. However the effort was ruled an own-goal and attributed to Rayo midfielder Saul Niguez.

The Daily Mail also report that United are ready to fight tooth and nail with Chelsea for Southampton left-back Luke Shaw, as they look to put a difficult first six months under new manager David Moyes behind them.

United have also been linked with a move for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye, although the Daily Mail insist Moyes has no interest in him.
