Hugo Lloris has hinted he may have to assess his future if Tottenham fail to qualify for the Champions League this season.

Spurs sit outside the Premier League's top four places on goal difference in fifth, with manager Tim Sherwood admitting that he expects to be fired if the club don't secure a spot in Europe.

France captain Lloris moved to White Hart Lane from Lyon - where he was a regular in the Champions League - in 2012, and told French television show Telefoot that he wants to return to Europe's top club competition with Spurs.

"We're not at that point yet," Lloris answered when asked about his position if Spurs fail to make the Champions League.

"We'll see how things stand at the end of the season - especially as this season is longer with the World Cup.

"The objective first and foremost is to qualify for the Champions League and then, year by year, to get closer to the big guns in our league."
