Juventus have confirmed they are lining up a bid for Southampton forward Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, just as soon as they have trimmed their wage bill.

With Tuttosport claiming that Mirko Vucinic is on the verge of a move to Arsenal and Fabio Quagliarella reportedly being targeted by Sampdoria, a bid for the former Romaman could be made before Friday's transfer deadline.

The Bianconeri face competition for his services from Inter Milan, a side they play at the Juventus Stadium on Sunday night. The chances of Osvaldo, 28, being present at that game, one way or another, have increased with Juve's general manager, Beppe Marotta, confirming his club's interest.

"Osvaldo is an Italy international and there are a lot of clubs who like him, not only me," Marotta said in La Gazzetta dello Sport. "But before we can buy, we've got to sell."

Osvaldo is unlikely to feature again for the Saints after being suspended for two weeks following a training ground bust-up with Jose Fonte.

With his place in the Azzurri squad at the World Cup hanging in the balance, a return to Serie A, where he can show Italy coach Cesare Prandelli his worth on a weekly basis, now seems inevitable.

Inter were close to signing Osvaldo in the summer before the Giallorossi sold him to Southampton after he fell out with fans of the Serie A club.
