Argentina striker Ignacio Scocco has completed his move to Sunderland from Brazilian club Internacional.

Scocco, 28, has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the club, becoming manager Gus Poyet's fourth capture in the January transfer window.

Scocco tweeted a picture of himself signing the deal, saying: "A new challenge, new objectives. Thanks for all the support."

Scocco's compatriots Oscar Ustari and Santiago Vergini have already signed for the North East club, while Spanish full-back Marcos Alonso has joined on loan.

Scocco was in the stands at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday as Sunderland beat Stoke 1-0 to climb out of the Premier League relegation zone.

Sunderland have also signed 24-year-old midfielder Liam Bridcutt from Poyet's former club Brighton & Hove Albion for a fee believed to be around £3 million.

Meanwhile, Black Cats midfielder Alfred N'Diaye has joined Spanish club Real Betis on loan for the rest of the season. The 23-year-old spent the first half of the season at Eskisehirspor in Turkey.
