Three sought over Walcott coin throwing

Police are looking for three men accused of throwing coins at Theo Walcott as he was stretchered from the field during Arsenal's 2-0 win over north London rivals Tottenham on January 4.

Walcott, as well as stewards and St John Ambulance staff carrying his stretcher, were pelted with missiles as the 24-year-old made a '2-0' gesture towards the visiting Tottenham fans.

The police have confirmed they have three suspects in their investigation, releasing grainy images of the men on Monday in a hope to move closer to identifying the culprits.

"During the match, an Arsenal player on a stretcher, medical staff carrying him and stewards were struck by coins and other missiles thrown at them from a section of the crowd occupied by Tottenham fans," a police statement said.

"The player and stewards received minor injuries as a result. Officers from the Metropolitan Police launched an investigation and have now identified three men they would like to contact."

An investigation is also underway into anti-Semitic tweets, that referred to the Holocaust, that were posted after the match.
