Mourinho: Everything is mind games

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has suggested that a move to Major League Soccer may appeal to Ashley Cole.

Mourinho has always maintained Cole still has a role to play a role at Chelsea but also suggested that a switch to the US may appeal to Cole.

"Maybe Thierry is doing with the Red Bulls the same as David [Beckham] did with Miami," Mourinho said. "Yes [Cole] has [a future at Chelsea], but maybe Thierry has a better proposal."

Cole, 33, joined the Blues from rivals Arsenal in 2006 and has won eight major trophies in eight years at Stamford Bridge, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League.

However, the England international has fallen out of favour with Mourinho this season, starting just 12 Premier League games as Cesar Azpilicueta has been preferred at left-back.

Sources close to Cole have told ESPN that there are MLS clubs interested in signing the defender at the end of the season and he has previously been linked to the New York Red Bulls, with former Arsenal team-mate Thierry Henry reportedly trying to convince him to join the club.
