Benfica's game against Sporting Lisbon at the Stadium of Light had to be postponed after insulation material from the roof came loose in high winds and began falling on the pitch and some seating.

The stadium has been chosen to host this season's Champions League final. After pieces of glass wool material began drifting down from the roof of the ground shortly before kick-off - and with many fans already in their seats - officials decided the game could not go ahead.

All tickets for the Lisbon derby had been sold, and a new date for the match will be announced shortly.

Sporting confirmed the postponement on their Twitter account, but have yet to make any official announcement about when the rescheduled fixture might take place.
