Craig Bellamy has been charged by the FA for violent conduct following an incident in the South Wales derby with Swansea.

Under a new pilot project in Premier League matches this season, if an incident has not been seen by the match officials, a three-man panel of former elite referees can review it and, for an FA charge to follow, all three panel members must agree it is a sending-off offence.

Cardiff striker Bellamy appeared to elbow Swansea's Jonathan de Guzman in the 3-0 defeat at the Liberty Stadium.

The panel also reviewed an clash involving Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, who appeared to kick out at Norwich striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel during Manchester City's 0-0 draw at Carrow Road. They decided it was not an act of violent conduct.

Bellamy has until 6pm on Tuesday, February 11 to respond to the charge.
