Meulensteen: United 'easy' to defend against
Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen has described David Moyes' tactics as "straightforward" and "easy" to defend against.
Meulensteen, a former Manchester United first-team coach who was not retained by Moyes when he took over from Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer, made a dramatic return to Old Trafford, earning a 2-2 draw courtesy of an injury-time equaliser.
The Dutchman is under increasing pressure to save his job at Fulham, having lost eight of the 11 Premier League games prior to Sunday's draw since taking over from Martin Jol. The west London side were also knocked out of the FA Cup by League 1 strugglers Sheffield United.
But for all of United's possession and domination of the match, Meulensteen said his old club were predictable.
"I thought their game plan was quite straightforward - get it wide, get it in," Meulensteen said. "If you're well organised and the goalkeeper is in good positions then, yes, it can be easy.
"You need a little bit of creativity and a bit of variety at times to open teams up."
Asked if there is now a chink in United's armour, he added: "I do think a few teams have come here with a different sort of approach, so yes I do think there's a little bit of that.
"But it's not for me to talk about Manchester United and what's gone wrong with it."
