Fulham defender compares United to Conference side
Fulham defender Dan Burn says that Manchester United's record number of crosses reminded him of playing in the Conference following their 2-2 draw on Sunday.
United put in 81 crosses at Old Trafford, but many were headed away by Fulham's 6ft 6in centre-back, who made 22 clearances.
And former Darlington defender Burn, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Birmingham, said the aerial assault were like his days in non-league football,
"I've never headed that many balls since the Conference," he said.
And Burn revealed that Fulham had prepared for United to keep on crossing the ball and were "happy" to see David Moyes' side continue putting the ball into the penalty area.
"At the end of the day I'm happy for them to play like that. We knew that we were going to defend our box well. We were going to keep our back four quite narrow so that we were between the goal and the wingers were going to look after the wide men," he said.
"We've been working on that in training. I thought it worked well. They've had plenty of crosses, loads of chances and stuff but the second goal [Michael Carrick's deflected shot] was quite lucky."
