Wenger denies talking to Fabregas about future

Arsene Wenger is adamant he has not discussed Barcelona's interest in Cesc Fabregas with the player himself.

Fabregas is reported to have told Wenger that he wants to return to Barcelona and said prior to the World Cup that a decision regarding his future is now in the hands of the Arsenal manager, adding of a discussion with Wenger: "It was probably the greatest conversation I have had with someone in my life."

Barcelona subsequently saw an offer in the region of £29 million swiftly turned down by Arsenal, who underlined they have no intention of contemplating the sale of their captain and midfield inspiration.

Wenger is sticking to that stance and furthermore says that he has not engaged in any debate over the future of the player he signed as a 16-year-old in 2003.

"I don't need to talk about Cesc," Wenger said. "He has a deal with Arsenal and we don't want to sell him. I've spoken with Fabregas many times - as with all the players in the World Cup - but never about his future."
