Luis Suarez admits he is "scared" of picking up a serious injury in the remainder of the season with Liverpool and missing the World Cup.

Suarez's Uruguay are set to come face-to-face with Groud D opponents England in Sao Paulo on June 19.

Arsenal and England's Theo Walcott is the most high-profile player to have been ruled out of the World Cup already after suffering knee ligament damage last month.

Colombia striker Radamel Falcao has been left facing a race against time to make it to Brazil following surgery on a similar injury suffered playing for Monaco.

"The truth is that I am scared of what happened to Falcao and Walcott. But you live in the present and you always give your best for the club - you can't be thinking about that all the time," Suarez told Uruguayan radio station Sport 890 AM.

"It is a unique opportunity and we all want to be there, but I prefer to focus my mind on the English league. The moment to think about the national team will arrive later."
