New Barcelona president Sandro Rosell says he will meet with coach Pep Guardiola in the coming days to discuss how the Catalan club can strengthen their squad and will meet outgoing Barca chief Joan Laporta regarding the deal to bring Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Camp Nou.

Guardiola goes away on holiday in four days' time and Rosell says a meeting with the coach is his number one priority after winning Sunday's elections.

Rosell, who scooped more than 61% of the vote, is also expecting a smooth transitional period alongside departing president Laporta.

Laporta and Rosell fell out in 2005 and their differences remain well-documented, but the two embraced on Sunday night after the results were announced.

"I didn't expect Laporta to hug me like that, but the important thing now is not how I felt at that moment, but to make sure there is a smooth transition,'' Rosell said.

And Rosell says he will speak to Laporta regarding the move for Fabregas. "When we get together, Laporta will explain at what stage the Cesc situation is at. If negotiations are advanced and the coaching staff want the player, we will continue with the negotiations, without doubt,'' Rosell said.

"Until July 1 we can't do anything (as Laporta and his team remain in charge for two more weeks), but if they need help then we will be the first to give it.''
