Evra earns United extension by triggering clause

Patrice Evra has triggered a clause in his contract at Manchester United which has seen the left-back earn an extension, according to The Sunday Times.

Evra, who signed for United in January 2006, had a clause in his contract agreed from February 2011 which would enable the Frenchman to get an extension if he played a minimum number of games this season. Evra has started 25 out of 26 games for United during the campaign.

Evra is in the final year of his three-year contract, but having now activated the clause in his deal, is set to decide where he will play next season. He has been linked with a move to his former club Monaco, as well as big-spending Paris Saint-Germain.

The Sunday Times also report that manager David Moyes plans to use Evra along with a new left-back next season. Moyes had attempted to bring his former player at Everton Leighton Baines and sign Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao.
