Collins: Fulham taking a huge gamble
Former Fulham midfielder John Collins has warned the club are playing with their Premier League future following their third managerial appointment of the season.
Fulham recently replaced Rene Meulensteen with new boss Felix Magath, although Meulensteen - who replaced the sacked Martin Jol in December - has remained at the club. However, Ray Wilkins and Alan Curbishley have left their positions at Craven Cottage.
With Fulham currently sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table, four points adrift from safety, Collins believes the club has made some rash decisions regarding their future - which he stated will be a "huge gamble."
"There are very strange goings on at Fulham and I'm not liking what I'm seeing," Collins told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT.
"Rene Meulensteen signed five players, got rid of three big ones, but he had no time to work with his new players. Questions need to be asked and answered: Why have they done that? Why did they give the manager the go-ahead to bring in new players and then give him no time to work with them?
"It seems to me Fulham have made some rash decisions. We've not really heard from the owner in the last few months and he hasn't really answered any questions. Something has happened in the background but it would be nice to know why.
"They've taken a huge, huge gamble. It's in the lap of the Gods now."
Meanwhile, Magath has expressed his confidence in preserving Fulham's top-flight status and avoiding relegation to the Championship.
