David Moyes has described Manchester United's 2-0 defeat to Olympiakos as their "worst performance in Europe".

United went down in their Champions League last 16 tie in Athens thanks to goals from Alejandro Dominguez and Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell.

"I take responsibility," Moyes said in his post-match press conference. "It's my team. I'll always front it up. One good thing is there is a second game to come.

"We have to play better. I expected Olympiakos to be strong. Their performance wasn't unexpected. We'll do everything we possibly can to reverse the 2-0 defeat. We didn't show the talent the team has.

"The players are hurting as well. They know how they performed. It was our worst performance in Europe, for sure. We never really got into it. We didn't derserve anything. We never got to grip with things.

"We came in with a good mindset but it didn't show today. We have a shot but we didn't offer anything. I take responsibility."

ITV pundit Lee Dixon added: "I was really disappointed in United. There was no tempo, they were slow, they were sloppy. There wasn't enough creativity. David Moyes will be really disappointed with that, nobody came out of it with any credit."
