John Terry has had his Premier League comeback dampened by the league's dubious goals panel after it credited Chelsea's winning goal against Everton to Frank Lampard.

Terry had returned to the Chelsea line-up following a three-match absence with a gluteal muscle injury and appeared to have bundled in Lampard's injury-time free-kick to claim all three points for Jose Mourinho's side.

Lampard and Terry each made a claim for the goal during their celebrations as Chelsea consolidated their lead at the top of the table with the 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

However, the club confirmed on their official website that the goal had been awarded to free-kick taker Lampard. The decision takes Lampard to seven goals for the current season and 210 in his Chelsea career, while Terry now has two goals this campaign and 57 in his overall career.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez was left fuming at referee Lee Probert for not being "strong" enough after he awarded the late free-kick that led to Chelsea's goal.
