Fabio Capello has suggested that Gareth Barry will be named in the starting line-up to face Algeria on Friday after confirming the midfielder is back to full fitness.

The Manchester City midfielder has been out of action for six weeks with an ankle injury, but has trained this week without any problems.

"Gareth will play this Friday," Capello told BBC Sport. "He is okay, there is no problem. He has trained very well and he is fit."

Barry is seen to be the missing link in the team, sitting behind Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard as the holding midfielder, but his World Cup hopes were dashed when he suffered the injury against Tottenham on May 5.

Joe Cole is reportedly being considered for a place in the starting line-up against Algeria in Cape Town, while Capello's other selection headache will be whether to keep faith in goalkeeper Robert Green, who was responsible for Clint Dempsey's equaliser on Saturday.
