Pulis wants to stamp out diving 'disease'

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis has branded diving a "disease" and will fine two of his players for going down too easily.

Jerome Thomas and Marouane Chamakh are to be punished for for diving against Swansea, with Thomas having been cautioned by referee Mike Dean in the first half for attempting to win a penalty in the 1-1 draw.

Chamakh committed a similar act in the second half when he went to ground under pressure from Chico Flores.

"I have already spoken to Jerome. I think he has fallen over at any touch. He will get fined for that," Pulis said. "Chamakh did it in the first half and he will get fined as well. It's a disease we're almost rid of, but if people do it, they've got to be reminded it's not right."

The manager said that Thomas had said sorry to Dean after the match on Sunday. He said: "It's something I'm very strong on. I've been in to see Mike and JT (Thomas) waited for him to apologise at full-time."

Pulis has been critical of diving in the past, calling for Liverpool's Luis Suarez to be banned after the striker attempted to win a penalty when he was in charge of Stoke in October 2012.
