United rethink Europa League prices after fan backlash
Manchester United are considering a rethink on charging Champions League ticket prices for Europa League matches if the club qualify for the competition next season after a backlash from fans, according to the Independent.
Three quarters of people surveyed by the club's Supporters Trust said they might not renew their season tickets were any potential Europa League matches included in the controversial Automatic Cup Scheme (ACS).
The Independent had previously reported that United had decided Europa League matches would not be excluded from season ticket prices for 2014-15. Under the ACS, fans are also forced to buy a seat for FA Cup matches at Old Trafford.
It is believed United would now be open to the idea of removing Europa League games from the ACS and reducing ticket prices for the matches, as they did for the games against Ajax and Athletic Bilbao two years ago when the club failed to progress from their Champions League group.
United face a tall order to qualify for the Champions League this season, with fourth-placed Manchester City 12 points ahead of them with a game in hand.
