Robben hits back at sore loser Wenger

Arjen Robben has hit back at Arsene Wenger's claim that he dived to win a penalty during Bayern Munich's 2-0 defeat of Arsenal, insisting it was a "pretty scary moment" for him.

The winger went to ground after he being brought down by Wojciech Szczesny during the first half of their last-16 first leg two weeks ago.

Wenger accused Bayern's players of diving after the defeat and singled out Robben for making the most of the Arsenal goalkeeper's challenge.

But Robben branded the attack sour grapes from the Arsenal manager. "Wenger's comments are typical for a losing coach," he told De Telegraaf. "I don't care much about it, because it's not the first time he acts like this.

"It was a pretty scary moment for me. I picked up a serious [knee] injury in December after a similar foul from Augsburg's goalkeeper."

The penalty incident was not the only controversy Robben was involved in during the game; the 30-year-old was also accused of spitting on Bacary Sagna while the Arsenal defender was on the ground.

Robben strenuously denied the claims which were widely circulated on social media and insisted it had been sweat dripping off his head.

The second leg of the ite takes place on March 11 at Bayern's Allianz Arena.
