Soldado reveals his Tottenham torment

Roberto Soldado says he would have quit Tottenham a long time ago if such a disappointing time had come earlier in his career.

The 28-year-old joined Spurs from Valencia for £28 million last summer but has struggled after scoring four goals in his opening three games.

His winning strike against Cardiff last weekend was the first time he had netted since December and the striker admitted he would not have been able to handle the experience if he had not been in the game as long.

"If all this had happened to me when I was 22, I would have probably returned home after a month," Soldado told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

"But I believe it is a positive experience for me, my family and for the education of my children."

Soldado has lost his place in the starting line-up to a resurgent Emmanuel Adebayor but has promised to repay the faith shown in him by the Spurs fans.

"I am the only one responsible for my poor form, but I will get better," he said. "Despite all the time I have gone without scoring a goal, the support they have given me has been incredible.

"Every time I touch the ball I feel there is great expectation and people are hoping for the best for me. I feel wanted here even though I haven't given them anything at the moment."
