Pardew accepts FA charge over headbutt
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has accepted a misconduct charge from the Football Association for headbutting Hull City midfielder David Meyler during his side's 4-1 win on Saturday.
The visitors were leading 3-1 with 20 minutes to go at the KC Stadium when Meyler collided with Pardew in attempting to retrieve the ball off the pitch as the hosts chased the game.
Pardew pushed his head into Meyler's face, and, following a melee, referee Kevin Friend sent him off while Meyler was booked.
Pardew was fined £100,000 by his club and apologised later following widespread criticism. He is expected to receive a lengthy ban following the incident but has requested a personal hearing to explain his case.
